Tell us a little about yourself

I’m a mother of two, Physician Assistant and Air Force member. In my spare time I make body butters, soap, and scrubs. I believe healthy skin makes for a nice show tan. Helping others is a passion of mine and coaching provided a way to reach other. I have been able to publish one novel and am currently working on a second book to help inspire women and mothers to follow their fitness dreams.

How did you get started with bodybuilding?

A year after having my last child I weighed 150lbs. Being in the military it made it hard to pass our PT test and being medical I knew it wasn’t heart healthy. I thought doing a bodybuilding competition would be an unattainable goal and would give me the push I needed to at least lose the weight. I lost 20lbs in 4 months and thought I was done, but my trainer said, “not yet.” She gave me the push I needed do my first show in 2015 and I have been competing ever since.

Where does your motivation come from?

My kids are watching me. I want to be the best role model for them. I feel it’s my duty to teach them to love themselves and shoot for the stars. Helping others is also my motivation and the best way to help is to be able to identify and have compassion. I love this sport and helping others into it with the understanding of what they are going through is an awesome thing to me.

What are some of your greatest achievements?

Finishing my first book was my first greatest achievement. Becoming a mother was the next greatest achievement and getting accepted to the Military Physician Assistant Program was a huge achievement.

What is your current training philosophy?

My training philosophy is to grind, but listen to your body. I believe in a prepping for life and not just for the few seconds you are on the stage. We only get one set of organs so it’s important to make sure you take care of them.

What are 3 tips you would give to someone trying to reach their goal physique?

  1. Never give up! Everyone starts somewhere, but the ones that reach the top are those that never give up.
  2. Remember that genetically everyone is different. There will never be another you. So just be the best version of you, you can be.
  3. We are our own worst critics, don’t beat your own self up. Self love created a positive attitude, which opens you up to positive outcomes.

What is your diet like? And does it differ on-season v. off-season?

I am a IIFYM lover. I’ve tried “Bro” science diets and they just don’t work for me. I find my self more disciplined on a flexible diet and I love that I can get creative with meals. I don’t change what I eat much from on to off season. I just adjust the amount.

When trying to cut down do you prefer to use HIIT or steady state cardio? and why?

I feel that HIIT helps me burn calories fast and love it for that reason, but I feel cardio is cardio and calories burned are calories burned.

What is your next goal?

My next goal is a secret. I know, that’s not really a good answer, but being in the Military I move around a lot and literally don’t know if I can or can’t do the shows I want until the last minute. As of now, I aiming to expand and try a big natural show. Sky is the limit!
