Where did you earn your Pro status?

2019 NFF Super Show

Tell us a little about yourself….

I grew up in Illinois. Moved to Chicago after college and spent 10 years living in the city. I moved to Austin 3 years ago. I am a Senior Portfolio Advisor at Dell. Outside of fitness I enjoy travelling, cooking, watching crime documentaries and spending time with my French Bulldog, Monroe.

How did you get started with bodybuilding?

I got started in bodybuilding when I joined Big Tex Gym. I met my coach there and he encouraged me to do a show in order to have motivation towards a goal. I did very well my first show and got hooked.

Where does your motivation come from?

My motivation comes from reaching my own goals. Seeing how hard I have worked to get to where I am at makes me want to continue it and grow even more as a person and in this industry. It also helps to be surrounded by people and in a community that have your same passion and interest.

What are some of your greatest achievements?

My greatest achievement fitness-wise is becoming a Pro. This was my goal from the beginning and I achieved it in less than a year. I am extremely proud of how much work and discipline I put into the sport and I feel that I really earned my Pro status.

Personally my biggest achievement is moving to Austin by myself and getting myself established here. I am in a better place physically, financially, and mentally then ever before.

What is your current training philosophy?

Trying to mix things up and keep working out interesting and fun. Trying to be active in other ways besides the gym. Paddle boarding, hiking, rock climbing, yoga etc.

What are 3 tips you would give to someone trying to reach their goal physique?

  1. Find a good trainer/coach that can give you guidance.
  2. Find a diet that works for your body (everyone is different).
  3. Stay disciplined.

What is your diet like? And does it differ on-season v. off-season?

I try to stick to a mostly Paleo diet in and out of prep. While in prep I do not consume cheat meals. In off-season I try to follow the 80/20 ratio so that I can stick to my diet but also enjoy the occasional treat or cheat meal.

When trying to cut down what type of cardio do you do and why?

Stairmaster. This is a great cardio workout and also works your lower body.

What is your next goal?

To compete and place top 5 in a Pro show. I would also like to get more involved in the “behind the scenes” aspect of body building. I would like to become a posing coach and attend shows as an athlete coach. I would also like to become a sponsored athlete and get more involved with the NFF.
